This is a 10* play on the STL Cardinals.
The first place St. Louis Cardinals will host the surging Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium tonight, and this one is fixing to be a real pitcher's duel. Gerrit Cole will toe the slab for the visitors, and he's leading the major league in wins. The 24 year old boasts a record of 13-1 versus National League teams not named the Cincinnati Reds. For whatever reason, Cole hasn't been able to figure out Cincinnati, going 0-3 with a 5.95 ERA against the Reds this season. He hasn't pitched as well since the All Star break, going 1-2 with a 2.77 ERA in four starts. He's also 0-2 with a 4.35 ERA lifetime at St. Louis.
The Cardinals hand the ball to Michael Wacha, who is coming off back to back shutouts. Wacha (13-4, 2.92 ERA) tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just four hits in a 3-0 win at Cincinnati his last time out, and he blanked the Rockies in seven innings at home prior to that. He's 5-2 with a 2.51 ERA in nine starts in St. Louis this year, and he's 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in two previous meetings with Pittsburgh.
The Pirates are 16-37 in the last 53 meetings in St. Louis.
Take STL.
