The Cubs played a double-header in Pittsburgh yesterday, and after losing Game 1, Chicago battled back to take Game 2 by a score of 2-1. I like the Cubs in the rubber match with Jake Arrieta looking to be the first 20 game winner in the majors this year.
Arrieta (19-6, 1.99 ERA) allowed one run on six hits, striking out seven in eight innings in a 5-1 win at Philly his last time out. He's 12-1 with a 1.72 ERA in 16 starts on the road this year, and he's pitched extremely well against Pittsburgh. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 0.86 ERA in three starts versus the Pirates.
Pittsburgh will hand the ball to A.J. Burnett, who didn't get a decision in his first start since returning from injury. The 38 year old surrendered three runs on three hits and a pair of walks over five innings in a 6-4 loss to the Brewers.
Burnett may have good numbers against the Cubs this year, but that hasn't been the case in previous years. Chicago's lineup has hit .362 over a combined 116 at bats.
