NFC SOUTH BLOCKBUSTER
(NFL) New Orleans vs. Carolina, 09/27/2015 9:00 AM, Score: 22 - 27
Money Line: -175.00 Carolina (Home)
Result: Win
This is an 8* play on the Carolina Panthers.

The New Orleans Saints come into Carolina this Sunday with an 0-2 record, and they will have to rely on an inexperienced backup quarterback as Drew Brees is sidelined with a sore shoulder. The Panthers are 2-0, and their defense looked dominant in a home win over Houston last week. The Texans were only able to pick up 61 rushing yards on 23 carries in the loss.

The Saints are likely to be conservative on offense with a 34 year old Luke McCown at quarterback. While they'd like to lean on their running game, that would appear to play into the strength of this Carolina defense. His last NFL start came with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he was picked off four times in a 32-3 loss to the Jets back in 2011. He has a career record of 2-7 as a starter, and while he didn't play poorly this pre-season, the Saints were still 0-4.

Cam Newton has looked sharp in the first two weeks, throwing for 370 yards and three TDs, and running for 111 yards and one score. He could be in for a big day against a Saints team that has allowed opponents to average 28.5 points during an 0-2 start. He threw for 226 yards and three TDs in a 41-10 win at New Orleans the last time these teams faced each other.

The Panthers are 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 home games, and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home meetings versus New Orleans.

Take CAR.
