This is a 10* play on the Texas Rangers.
The Los Angeles Angels score five runs in the 9th inning last night to defeat the Texas Rangers 11-10. The Rangers do now have to win tonight's contest to be sure to finish top of the division with the Astros just one game behind, and I like their chances with Cole Hamels (12-8 , 3.72 ERA) on the hill.
Hamels had posted a 2.78 ERA over eight starts, all Texas victories, before giving up six runs on seven hits in six innings of in Tuesday's 7-6 win against Detroit. This will be his first meeting with the Halos since 2008 but he has their current roster limited to a .186 batting average over 43 at bats.
The Angels hand the ball to Garrett Richards (15-11, 3.62 ERA) who is far better home in L.A. than on the road where he's 5-7 with a 4.59 ERA this season. Richards has won seven straight meetings with Texas but has struggled with both Mike Napoli who is 5-for-9 with two homers and Prince Fielder who is 7-for-17 in the matchup.
The Rangers have won 13 of their last 17 at home when facing a right-handed starter and they've won five straight at Arlington with Hamels on the mound.
Take TEX.
