This is an 8* play on the Washington Capitals

The New Jersey Devils suffered a 3-1 home-loss to the Winnipeg Jets in their season opener last night and they travel to Washington to take on the Capitals here the very next day.

The Capitals finished the 2014/2015 season second in the Metropolitan Division and their 2.43 goals against per game average was among the best marks in the NHL. They came up short against the New York Islanders in the first round of the playoffs but are coming into this season with an improved roster. They've added T.J. Oshie from the Blues and 2014 Conn Smythe Trophy winner Justin Williams who spent the last seven seasons with the Kings.

The Devils managed to scrape together only 78 points last season, the second worst tally in the division. They finished the season in an abysmal manner winning just one of their last 11 overall and won only 13 of their 41 road games over the season. The Devils are a team in rebuild mode with a new general manager and they've had a huge turnover of players during the off-season. It's a lot to ask for the team to hit the ground running, and I think they'll end up near the bottom of the division either way.

The Capitals won four of five meetings last season with Braden Holtby tending the net each game compiling a 1.20 GAA and .958 save percentage.

Take WAS.
