This is an 8* play on the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays came into this ALDS as massive favorites but have their backs to the wall after back-to-back home losses. They have a favorable matchup here in Game 3 though, and I like their chances of extending the series.
Martin Perez (3-6, 4.46 ERA) will toe the slab for the Rangers and this is not a good spot for the 24 year old left-hander who'll make his first season start against the Jays. He's just 2-5 with a bloated 5.68 ERA over eight starts under the lights this season and Toronto pounded southpaws with a .278 team batting average during the regular season. Josh Donaldson is 5-for-13 with three doubles and a homer in previous match-ups.
The Blue Jays hand the ball to Marco Estrada (13-8, 3.13 ERA) who tossed four innings of one-run ball with only four hits allowed at Arlington on Aug. 27. Estrada has had a solid season but has been particularly sharp since the All Star break posting a American League second-best 2.78 ERA over that span.
Friday's 6-4 extra-innings loss must have been extremely tough on the Jays but they've had a day to regroup now and are a solid 15-5 in their last 20 games following an off day. They've won eight of the last 10 meetings at Texas.
Take TOR.
