(NHL) Detroit vs. Montreal, 10/17/2015 3:00 PM, Score: 1 - 3
Money Line: -164.00 Montreal (Home)
Result: Win
This is an 8* play on the Montreal Canadiens.

The Detroit Red Wings suffered their first defeat of the season when they lost 5-3 to the Carolina Hurricanes home in Motor City last night. We find them on the road at Montreal here the very next day and this won't be an easy game for the Red Wings.

Montreal has a perfect 5-0-0 record for the season and shut out the Rangers in a 3-0 victory in their first game in front of the home-town crowd Thursday. They've won six straight meetings with Detroit who is expected to go with backup goalie Petr Mrazek between the pipes as Jimmy Howard tended the net last night. Mrazek conceded three goals on 47 shots in a 4-3 win at Carolina a week ago in his only start of the season so far.

The Canadiens meanwhile can turn to the stellar Carey Price who has a 2.18 GAA over five consecutive wins against Detroit. He has allowed only five goals in four starts this season while receiving three goals or more of support in each game.

Montreal announced that reliable goalscorer Tomas Plekanec signed a two-year extension yesterday and he's tallied four goals over the first five games of the 2015/2016 campaign, a tied team-best with Max Pacioretty.

Take MTL.
