The Yankees beat the Tigers by a score of 7-2 last night, and Alex Rodriguez became a member of the 3000 hit club. The Tigers will look to avenge that loss tonight, and I like their chances against a struggling Yankees pitcher.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - Alfredo Simon will get the nod for the Tigers, and he continues to put up impressive numbers. Simon (7-3, 2.58 ERA) threw five scoreless innings in an 8-1 win over Cleveland in his last start. The Yankees will counter with Nate Eovaldi, who was slaughtered in his last appearance. He gave up eight runs on nine hits while failing to get out of the first inning in a loss to Miami.
2. Miguel Cabrera - The Tigers slugger leads the American League batting .348 with 15 home runs and 51 RBIs, and he's 3-for-6 lifetime versus Eovaldi.
3. X-Factor - Eovaldi has been impressive in day games, but he's owns a 6.16 ERA in 10 starts under the lights.
