The Detroit Tigers have now seen the total go over in 20 of their last 21 Games. It's apparently the most profitable trend in recent sports wagering history, and it seems unlikely that it will end any time soon. The Tigers managed to blow another lead last night, and the send another struggling starter to the mound on Saturday afternoon.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Pitching - Alfredo Simon will get the start for the visitors, and he's coming off a win in his last start. Simon (8-5, 4.18 ERA) allowed five runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings in a 12-5 win over the Mariners at Safeco. He had lost three three straight prior to that, giving up 18 runs on 29 hits over 14.2 innings in those games. The Twins hand the ball to Phil Hughes, who has faced the Tigers twice this season, surrendering seven runs on 15 hits over 11 innings.

2. Batter vs. Pitcher - Yoenis Cespedes was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs last night, and he's 6-for-12 (.500) with a home run lifetime versus Hughes.

3. X-Factor - The Tigers lead the league with 32 home runs in 18 games since June 21. That's an average of almost two per game.
