The Pittsburgh Penguins are in the Eastern Conference semifinals after a dominant performance in the last round when they dropped just one game to the Rangers. The Washington Capitals did not impress over the past three games against the Flyers in their quarterfinals match-up, and I think the Penguins are coming in undervalued by the bookmakers tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Crosby vs. Ovechkin - The Penguins' superstar carried the team in the series against the Rangers with three goals and five assists in five games. Ovechkin has been more quiet with three goals and a pair of assists through six games, and he was held off the score sheet in five regular-season match-ups against the Penguins this season.
2. Road Warriors - The Pens are a perfect 2-0 with an 8-1 goal-differential here in the playoffs and they have won 10 of their past 11 on the road with the regular-season included. They are 6-2 in the last eight meetings with the Caps at Verizon Center.
3. X-Factor - Pittsburgh is 8-for-21 on the man advantage in the playoffs while Washington has failed to convert on each of its last 10 opportunities.
