UNLV is third in the nation in running play percentage, behind only Army and Navy! The Rebels have run the ball well but played Houston to a low-scoring 27-7 win. It's hard to take much from UNLV's 72-14 victory over Utah Tech; however, even though UNLV was able to run for 504 yards for the game, they were only 9 for 18 passing. The Rebels will focus on running against the Jayhawks and struggle to throw the ball.
As for the Jayhawks, they ran the ball all over Lindenwood but did not have a great passing game in that 48-3 win. Then, last week, in a 23-17 loss to Illinois, quarterback Jalon Daniel struggled to throw the ball again and threw three picks.
Expect both teams to run the ball and eat the clock. Kansas is 69th in the country in offensive plays per game (66.0), and UNLV is 90th (63.0).
I think the total here is too high based on the 49-36 bowl game last season, but I see this one falling under the total.
