The Houston Astros beat the visiting Chicago Cubs on Monday in the opener of a three-game interleague series, and I think they'll get the better of the visitors again here on Tuesday.
Tonight rookie right-hander Corbin Martin (1-1, 4.97 ERA) will take the ball for the home team. The Astros had won each of his first two starts in the big leagues prior to a 4-0 loss to the White Sox on May 23.
Martin was charged with all four runs (three earned), but even so, he's still done better lately than Cubs' left-hander Jon Lester (3-3, 2.68 ERA) who has compiled a 9.72 ERA over his last two trips to the mound. Lester has made just two career starts against Houston (4.50 ERA) but the current Astros roster is batting a combined .270 over 63 at bats against the veteran.
The Astros are 6-1 in their last seven interleague games vs. a left-handed starter and 8-2 in their last 10 interleague home games.
