I'm playing on ST. LOUIS. The Cardinals need to get on track and tonight's matchup provides them with an excellent opportunity to do exactly that. Ageless workhorse Andy Wainwright is off b2b strong outings. Two starts ago, he allowed three runs through seven complete innings. Last time out, he went another seven complete, this time allowing just three hits and two runs. The Cards won 8-2. Note that Wainwright had 10K K's without walking a batter in those two starts. On the other hand, Garrett (6.43 ERA) walked three in four innings, in his first start. While Wainwright has a poor 8.20 ERA on the road, he's got a stellar 2.62 ERA (0.927 WHIP) here at home. Look for the veteran to outpitch and outlast the youngster in this one, the Cards climbing back to 500 while improving to 9-4 vs. southpaws.
