NHL - The Bruins and Capitals both are playoff bound and both have a chance to see each other again very soon in the post-season. This certainly has an impact on a team's defensive intensity. When you get to the playoffs you can generally expect tight and low-scoring games with limited scoring chances and a lot of fighting for every inch of ice. With this being the opposite of that since Penguins already locked up the division, there could be plenty of scoring here from Boston and Washington. The Capitals are already locked into the #2 spot in the division right behind Pittsburgh and, if the Bruins lost to the Islanders Monday then this game would be key to them avoiding finishing 4th in division and facing Penguins right out of the gate. Regardless of the Monday result, these games involving tricky scenarios always tend to play out a little loose and Washington absolutely will have nothing to play for here. The Bruins entered the week on an 11-4 run and scoring an average of 3.7 goals a game during this stretch. The Capitals are off a low-scoring OT win versus Flyers but 12 of 15 games heading into that one had totaled 6 or more goals. Washington had allowed an average of 4 goals per game in 3 prior home games before hosting Philly and had lost all 3 of those games even though on home ice. Play OVER (Washington/Boston)
