The recent success reportedly convinced the Angels to stop taking offers for two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani ahead of next week's trade deadline. Instead, the Angels decided to become a buyer in hopes of a playoff push. Ohtani starts on the bump here, and has dealt with a cracked fingernail this month, leading to a 7.71 ERA in three July starts. Michael Lorenzen has been phenomenal in July, not giving up a run in 18 innings, however that likely changes vs the Angels bats today as LAA is 4th in MLB in OPS vs right handed pitching, and the Tigers have trended over all season.
