What loomed as a scary road trip out of the All-Star break for the Padres has turned into quite a party instead, with six straight wins and a no-hitter thrown in to boot. But perhaps the biggest accomplishment was winning last night at Baltimore in a game pitched by rookie Andy Mazur. Tonight it's Michael King, who if not for Dylan Cease might be regarded as the current ace of the San Diego staff, considering his 1.47 ERA across his last four starts. Much better than recent work from the Birds' Dean Kremer, with his 6.43 ERA across his last three starts. The Birds also need to start flapping their wings, just 22-22 across their last 44 games, and fortunate the Yankees have slowed down and actually fallen further behind the O's in the past six weeks.
