We have been wondering all season if Cleveland was going to be able to hang in there for the AL Central crown. But recent signs of weakening in the pitching department combined with the season-long issues scoring runs have allowed the Royals to pull within one game in the standings after Monday day-night twin-bill sweep by Lake Erie. Pitching sure didn't work in the nightcap on Monday when the bullpen got battered in a 9-4 loss, but relievers will likely be called upon again as Gavin Williams (7.36 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in August) has been unreliable in the rotation this month. It looks to us like Edge KC and Michael Lorenzen, who unlike Williams has had a bang-up August, with a 1.99 ERA in four starts since being heisted from the Rangers at the trade deadline.
