Clemson vs Georgia

Result: Win
Even though this is no longer an annual affair, it's still good to see these two get together in a regional rivalry has run hot at several points across the decades. Clemson's charge to the 1981 national title under Danny Ford effectively commenced with a 13-3 win over Herschel Walker and the defending national champion Bulldogs, who hurt their own cause with nine (nine!) giveaways. Or favorite recollection, however, might have come in the 1983 renewal at Death Valley, when the game ended on back-to-back field goal tries by Georgia's Kevin Butler and Clemson's Donald Igwebuike from 66 and 68 yards, respectively. Fittingly, neither one connected as the game ended in a 16-16 draw (well before the days of overtime). The last meeting was another much-hyped opener three years ago at Charlotte, when Georgia began its national title run with a grim 10-3 win. Christopher Smith's 74-yard pick-six was the only TD of the night in a defensive stalemate more reminiscent of Notre Dame and Army battling to a 0-0 draw in 1946. The QBs that night were DJ Uigalelei and JT Daniels; three years on, it's Cade Klubnik vs. Carson Beck, both established college pilots who promise more fireworks than the last meeting. But these meetings have rarely become shootouts across the years, and the respective defenses should not get overrun. Play Clemson-Georgia "Under" (at Atlanta)
