Cards at Brewers
(MLB) Cardinals (STL) vs. Brewers (MIL),
Money Line: -145.00 Brewers (MIL) (Home)
Result: Loss
With no sign of a pending long win streak like in September of 2021 that catapulted the Redbirds into the playoffs, it looks like St. Louis will miss the postseason. Too many recent flat efforts have stalled an upward advance in the standings as the Cards have dropped 5.5 games off of the pace for the last NL wild card spot. Last night's 9-3 loss in Milwaukee in indicative of recent frustrations. It might be tricky again tonight, as ex-Met Steven Matz will make his first appearances in over four months after being sidelined with a back injury. Remember, Matz wasn't too sharp in April, either, with a 6.18 ERA. It's a different story for Milwaukee, steaming toward the playoffs the Brewers run away in the NL Central, and Aaron Civale off of seven innings of two-hit, shutout ball against the Giants last Wednesday. Civale also spun six shutout innings vs. Cleveland on August 16, and has a 1.93 ERA across his last four starts. Play Brewers on Run Line
