Not often are we risking a pick lately on the Angels, who have been in a steep descent into the AL West cellar the past month, but will make an exception tonight. Willing to take a chance on the mercurial Reid Detmers, who has consistently blown hot and cold in the rotation the past couple of seasons. But a recent three-month stint in AAA appears to have ironed out his mechanics to the point Ron Washington is trusting him once again in the rotation, and the return game for Detmers vs. the Dodgers last Tuesday was very encouraging, allowing two runs and three hits, while striking out ten, in six solid innings of work. As for the Twins, they failed to shut the door on a variety of AL wild card hopefuls by getting swept on the weekend by the Royals, while Monday starter David Festa (5.64 ERA at Target Field) is also definitely at the back end of the Minnesota rotation.
