Justin Verlander has pitched well enough to have earned a win for the Giants this season, though into the 4th of July he still hasn't notched one of those. Only a matter of time, we suspect, especially if he performs as he did in his last start vs. the Chisox, spinning six innings of one-run ball last Sunday before getting betrayed by his bullpen. Now, SF seems on the road to recovery, winning the last two of the midweek set at Phoenix after dropping seven of eight, and note that A's starter JP Sears had a 6.74 ERA in his four starts previous to 5 2/3 shutout innings vs. the Yankees last Saturday.
