Twins at A's
(MLB) Twins (MIN) vs. Athletics (OAK),
Total: 7.50 | -132.00 Over
Result: Loss
Some surprising variations in the "total" are available in the marketplace, including this stray 7.5 for the series-ender in Oakland where the Twins make their final-ever visit this weekend. A far cry from the first time Minnesota played at the Coliseum way back in may of 1968, and Catfish Hunter fired a perfect game for the A's on May 8 in front of 6298 fans, striking out pinch-hitter Rich Reese looking on a 3-2 pitch to end the 4-0 win and a piece of history with the first AL perfecto in 46 years. (For good measure, Catfish had three hits and drove in three runs for Oakland that night in the days before the DH!). But runs have been pouring across the plate lately for the Twins against the A's, as they've scored no fewer than five ruins in six meetings since last weekend's four-game set at Target Field, with all six of the games landing on eight runs or higher (most much higher). That's also definitely been the case in recent Minnesota games involving Pablo Lopez, whose ERA is 9.69 in three June starts, each of those games featuring scoreline of 13 runs or more. The Twins have also been wearing out the Oakland bullpen, and as impressive as young A's starter Hogan Harris has been lately (2.37 ERA), his bullpen has had a very tough time vs. this foe.
