Both head coaches Missouri's Gary Pinkel (SEC) and Minnesota's Jerry Kill (Big Ten) were named Coach of the Year by their conferences. The Tigers are playing their ninth bowl game in 10 seasons the Golden Gophers are playing in their third straight for the first time on New Year's Day in 53 years.
