L.A. Angels at Tampa Bay 7:10 ET
Rays over Angels- It has been said that pitching is 90% of baseball and the Tampa Bay Rays sure play like they are following that axiom as they have won seven of their last nine road games by allowing two runs or fewer seven times. Those seven wins included two at Angel Stadium as they trail the Yankees by 1½ games in the AL East despite having 11 players on the disabled list. The Angels have dropped five straight and like I stated pitching is key as they have allowed 34 runs in those losses. Tonight they start Matt Shoemaker (3-4, 5.08 ERA) who has just one win in his last eight starts but was 2-0 against the Rays last season. Tampa will start Nathan Karns (3-2, 3.63) who got his first career start against the Angels his last time out and has surrendered just 45 hits in 62 innings. Take the RAYS!
