Pirates over Tigers- It is either one thing or another with Detroit's Justin Verlander (0-1, 6.17 ERA) who is making just his third start of the season after missing his last turn with back stiffness. The Tigers managed to rally late with four runs in the eighth and scored the winner in the ninth against the White Sox on Sunday to pull off the win. Pittsburgh meanwhile has dropped six of their last nine but will have their best in Gerrit Cole (11-3, 2.16 ERA) who is 6-1 in inter-league play as well as a 6-1 road record with a 1.71 ERA.
