This is an 8* VALUE PLAY on the New York Yankees.
This is an important AL East divisional battle in the early going and I like the high-powered Yankees to find a way to win at the end.
The Rays are hitting only .211 as a team and have a poor .303 on-base percentage and have not scored more than five runs in a game since July 27th.
Blake Snell is better at home vs. the Yankees (2-1, 2.08 ERA in five starts), but overall he's only 3-6 with a 4.41 ERA In 16 starts vs. them.
The Yanks come in off a four-game split with the Phillies, while the Rays come in off a poor showing vs. the Red Sox.
Finally note that Tanaka is 10-4 with a 3.20 ERA in 18 career starts vs. Tampa Bay, including 4-2 with a 1.79 ERA in his last eight vs. them.
All things considered, I think this the definition of "great line value."
