The Braves are desperately trying to make up ground.
The Dodgers are trying to run down the Giants in the standings.
We have two decent starting pitchers going head-to-head, but I still say the opener of this series sets up as a SLUG-FEST.
Drew Smyly is 9-3 with a 4.54 ERA for the Braves. He allowed three runs over five innings in a win over the Orioles on Saturday. Smyly is due for some major regression, so be careful if you're pulling the trigger on the Braves money-line in this one.
Julio Urias is 14-3 with a 3.17 ERA. He went five scoreless in a win over the Padres on Tuesday.
Urias has been great this year, but note that his ERA rises to 3.87 at home (and 3.54 in all night contests).
I say each starter takes a step back tonight, and ultimately that's going to help in driving this total OVER the number sooner, rather than later.
