This is a 10* TOTAL SPECIAL on the UNDER Rangers/Hurricanes.
The Rangers are fresh off a spectacular come from behind series win over Pittsburgh, and I think they'll struggle with energy here after that seven game marathon.
All seven games between the Rangers and the Penguins went OVER the number and I was unfortunately on the wrong end of a couple of those. But where those failed to deliver the cash, I think this opening game of the second round does indeed finally set up as more of a defensive affair.
Fatigue for New York is for sure a factor. The last thing New York can do in Game 1 is to try and turn this into a track meet and keep up with the Hurricanes at home.
New York only allowed an average of 2.49 goals per game in the regular season, so I am definitely expecting the Rangers to double down on the defensive end here in this first game.
And for the Caroline Hurricanes, they finished as the No. 1 defense in the entire league, allowing just 2.44 goals per game, but five of their seven games with the Bruins also went OVER the number.
So clearly, fatigue is in fact a major factor for both sides today.
So when you add up all of these different factors, the final conclusion that I see as far as the total is concerned is that the sharp move is on the UNDER in Game 1.
