This is a 10* TOTAL OF THE WEEK on the UNDER Redblacks/Argonauts.
How do you determine whether to take the Over or the Under in a certain contest? Do you simply look at each team's offensive and defensive stats, or do you take other factors into consideration?
I think choosing totals from a "situational" stand-point is a good way to approach it. I'm a situational handicapper at heart, and I release a lot of totals in every sport.
This one sets up well from a situational stand point to a be a lower-scoring defensive affair, and it's also backed by a couple of strong/relevant O/U ATS stats.
Ottawa is in dire need of a victory after two straight losses, both high-scoring setbacks, including last week's 40-33 setback at home to Montreal. Note though that the Redblacks have seen the total go UNDER the number in eight of their last 11 off a SU/ATS home loss in which they allowed 35 or more points in.
Toronto has been playing better after two straight victories over Saskatchewan, including last week's 31-21 road win.
Note though that the Argos have seen the total go UNDER the number in five of their last six after playing to three or more straight OVERS in a row.
Ottawa is 0-6, while Toronto is 3-2. Clearly, both teams really need a win here today. Whoever comes out on top, the overall situation, combined with the above O/U ATS stats all point to the UNDER as the correct call in our opinion.
