This is a 10* PITCHER'S DUEL on the UNDER Mariners/Athletics.
Both teams have been playing to several higher-scoring games of late, but we're expecting those trends to end this evening.
Seattle has seen the total go OVER in five straight. It's won four in a row, including just sweeping the Angels three consecutively in LA, winning 6-2, 8-2 and 11-7 lat night.
That's signficant to note here in our case though, as the Mariners have seen the total go UNDER the number in eight of their last 12 after playing to five or more straight OVERs in row.
Oakland took two of three at Texas this week, but it fell 10-3 in a blowout loss last night.
Marco Gonzales is 7-12 with a 4.18 ERA for the Mariners and he has to be feeling confident here, as he's 9-4 with a 3.88 ERA in 18 games, including 17 starts, vs. the Athletics.
He'll be opposed by Cole Irvin, who is 6-10 with a 3.13 ERA. Irving has been a consistent bright spot for the A's this year. Funny though, for some reason he's always had difficulty against the Mariners, as he's gone 0-5 with a 8.69 ERA in five starts against them.
But we're expecting those exceedingly horrible lop-sided trends to correct themselves here in this spot.
The overall situation, combined with the above strong situational trends make the UNDER the correct call on Friday.
