Texas State was 4-8 last year, finishing 3-5 in the Sun Belt. Layne Hatcher has come over via the transfer portal from Arkansas State as an experienced quarterback to lead the way for Texas State. Dillon Markiewicz transferred from Syracuse and Ty Evans is also in the mix, coming over from NC State.
Nevada is already 1-0. It's off a 23-12 win over New Mexico State. Shane Illingworth was just 7 of 12 for 51 yards passing, while Nate Cox added 27 passing yards by going 7 of 11. The offensive standout was Toa Taua 109 yards on 19 carries.
The Wolf Pack looked poor against lowly New Mexico State. Texas State has solid pieces and most of its top skilled players are back on both sides of the ball as well.
Look for Jake Spavital to have something special up his sleeve in Week 1. The play is the BOBCATS.
