The San Diego Padres took Game 1 of their three-game set with the Oakland A's 7-0. The Padres find themselves six games behind the Dodgers in the NL West and five games ahead of ninth-place Colorado in the playoff hunt. Garrett Richards will take the bump for the Padres in the rubber game of this series. He has made nine starts this season and has posted a 1-2 record with a 4.63 ERA. In Richard's last three starts, he has posted an 0-1 record with a 9.95 ERA, over 6.1 innings.

The A’s have a 3.5 game-lead game lead over the Astros in the AL West race. Oakland will look to build on yesterday's win by sending Mike Fiers tot he mound. He has made seven starts this season and has posted a 4-1 record, with a 4.86 ERA. In his last three starts, he is 3-0 with a 2.60 ERA.

Richards has struggled this season. He’s thrown more than five innings just three times this season and has not made it past four innings in his last three starts. Fiers has been excellent at home in his career and he’s won three straight starts coming into this one. I like Friers to continue his winning ways and for the A's to come away with another win.
