Richmond is coming off a very successful 24-9 season. However, as the #1 seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament they were upset in the quarterfinals by St. Joseph’s which dashed their hopes of playing in the NCAA Tournament. It was a bitter pill to swallow for the Spiders and teams of this nature more times than not are flat in NIT 1st round games. It’s also worth noting, that Richmond is 0-3 in non-conference true road games and none of those opponents are NCAA Tournament bound.

Virginia Tech is 14-2 at home this season with a terrific point-per game differential of +15.3. Their lone home defeats cames versus North Carolina who is a #1 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament and Duke who’s a #4 seed in the South Region. Virginia Tech also has 2 quality non-conference wins over Iowa State (27-7) and Boise State (22-10). They also lost a narrow 2-point decision to nationally ranked South Carolina (26-7). Give me Virginia Tech minus points.
