You would think in a game of this caliber with these two offenses that it would be the offenses that are going to make the game. However, if you look the offensive numbers have been inflated because of the lack of defensive minded opponents these teams have played. In this game, though, this is about to change as both of these teams are facing a defense that does not give up a ton of points. That type of defensive effort means the offenses are going to struggle and not really adapt against a good defense right away and have a lot of misplayed balls and offensive sets. Lightning vs Red Wings
Tampa heads to this game playing some red hot hockey with no losses in their last 5 games. That is a huge step for the Lightning who earlier this season looked like a struggling teams and one that was limping through the season. The Red Wings, though, are falling in the exact opposite path. The Red Wings started off playing some great hockey and looked like a team that was well on their way to a playoff berth, but have lost 3 of their last 5 and one of their wins was an overtime win. Throw in the fact that the Red Wings offense has slumped to only 2.92 goals per game and the defense gives up 3.33 goals a game versus the Lightning who are putting in 3.22 goals per game, but are giving up only 2.65 goals a game and it is very easy to see the Lightning securing the win in this game. Suns vs Thunder
The Thunder are playing some amazing basketball on the season with only a lone loss. The Suns for their part have played great as well, but are not nearly at the same level as the Thunder who look like they could be on the pace to beat the Bulls runs in the 90's with the number of wins on the year. Now, the spread is what I am looking at in this game here and the Thunder are 15,5 points favorites and I have to say if they were playing the Pacers I could see that, but the Suns are not a lay down and die team. The Suns are putting in 116 points a game and are giving up only 112 points a game. The Thunder for their part are getting 122 points a game and give up 105 points a game.
