Friday night’s slate delivers a strong mix of NBA, NHL, and high-level college basketball, with several spots where form, matchup edges, and venue clearly matter. New York continues to dominate at Madison Square Garden, Colorado remains nearly untouchable at home, and Providence draws a favorable spot against a good Seton Hall team that now steps up in competition on the road. After breaking down the matchups, these are the three bets that stand out most.

Philadelphia 76ers vs New York Knicks

New York has quietly become one of the most reliable home teams in the league, and this matchup lines up well for them again. The Knicks are 13–1 at home, riding a six-game winning streak, and averaging 121.0 points per game while holding opponents to just 112.3. Jalen Brunson continues to anchor the offense, and New York’s ability to control tempo at Madison Square Garden has consistently worn down visiting teams.

Philadelphia is competitive, but this is a difficult spot. Joel Embiid is listed as game-time decision, and even if he plays, this is his fourth road game in a short stretch. The 76ers are just 5–5 in their last 10, and their defense has been vulnerable against teams that can spread the floor and push pace. New York also has the rebounding edge and plays far more efficiently at home.

Winnipeg Jets vs Colorado Avalanche

Colorado has been a nightmare matchup for just about everyone, especially at Ball Arena. The Avalanche are an absurd 13–0–2 at home, averaging over 4.0 goals per game, and coming into this one with a three-game win streak. Nathan MacKinnon continues to play at an MVP level, and Colorado’s depth scoring has made it very difficult for opponents to keep pace.

Winnipeg, on the other hand, has struggled to generate consistent offense and has lost four of their last five. While Connor Hellebuyck gives them a chance most nights, this is a brutal environment against one of the league’s fastest teams. Colorado also holds a significant shot-volume edge and does a great job sustaining pressure in the offensive zone.

Seton Hall Pirates vs Providence Friars

This is a strong Big East matchup, but the situational edge leans toward Providence. The Friars play at one of the fastest paces in the conference, averaging 91.7 points per game, and they return home after a tough double-overtime loss — a spot that often produces a focused response. Providence’s offense is far more explosive than Seton Hall’s, particularly in transition and half-court execution.

Seton Hall has been impressive defensively, but this will be their toughest road test so far. Their scoring margin tightens away from home, and Providence’s ability to stretch the floor creates matchup problems that Seton Hall hasn’t consistently faced yet. The Friars also hold an advantage at the free-throw line and tend to close well late in games.
