Best Bets for Today - Top Plays Across College Basketball, NHL and NBA for Wednesday December 10 2025

Wednesday’s late slate has a bit of everything: Luka and the Lakers in an NBA Cup spotlight, a desperate Kraken team trying to stop the slide at home, and a classic Group of Five rivalry game in Huntington. Spurs vs Lakers

San Antonio has been a great story at 16–7 with De’Aaron Fox leading a high-octane offense (119.6 PPG), but this is a very different challenge on the road without Victor Wembanyama in the middle. The Spurs’ defense still gives up 115.3 points per game, and they now face a Lakers team that’s 17–6, 7–3 at home, and driven by Luka Dončić putting up a ridiculous 35.0 PPG while the team averages 118.3. Both teams can score, but Los Angeles rebounds better, shares the ball just as well, and has the best player on the floor in a tournament-style environment where possessions tighten up late. With the Lakers at home, healthier in the frontcourt, and better built to exploit the Spurs’ defensive issues inside and in transition, I’m backing Lakers -5.5 to get it done in front of the home crowd. Kings vs Kraken

The spot could hardly set up better for Los Angeles. The Kings are 14–8–7 overall but a superb 10–2–4 on the road, leaning on excellent team defense (2.48 goals against per game) and strong goaltending from Darcy Kuemper, who sports a 2.23 GAA and .914 save percentage. Seattle, meanwhile, comes in 11–10–6 but on a six-game losing streak where the offense has sputtered (2.48 goals per game overall) and the penalty kill has been a real problem at just 66.2%. The Kings don’t need to blow anyone out: their structure, depth scoring and special teams edge should be enough against a Kraken side that’s leaking goals and short on confidence. With LA healthier, stingier defensively and outstanding away from home, I’m taking Kings -148 on the moneyline to keep Seattle’s skid going. Check out the full Kings vs Kraken pick.

Western Kentucky vs Marshall

This one has classic “short home favourite vs live road dog” written all over it, and I’m siding with the road dog. Marshall is 5–4 and favoured by 1.5 at home, but the Thundering Herd are on a three-game losing streak and giving up 79.6 points per game. Western Kentucky, on the other hand, is 6–2, scores 85.6 a night and comes in on a two-game winning streak, with T. Moore leading the way at 19.6 PPG on over 50% shooting and nearly 90% at the line. Marshall does have a slight edge on the glass and in assists, but WKU is the hotter team, the more efficient offense, and the side that turns defence into offence with 9.3 steals per game. In what profiles as a close, high-scoring rivalry matchup, I’m happy to grab the points and back Western Kentucky +1.5, with a very real chance the Hilltoppers win outright.
