Celtics vs 76ers
The 76ers are coming in at a -2.5 point favorite, but them hitting that is actually now showing up as being the favorite as the Celtics covering at a +2.5 is a -115. However, with how horrible the Celtics have played this year and the fact that Tatum is listed as out makes it hard for me to think the Celtics will win this game or even cover. The Celtics have come in with 2 wins in a row, but it has been against the Cavaliers and the Pelicans and the wins have come by 20 points and 32 points. The 76ers for their part are coming in unbeaten on the year and one of those wins was against the Celtics by a single point to open the Philadelphia season, but since then the Philadelphia offense has improved while the Celtics offense has remained flat on the year. Based off of the better offensive performance from the 76ers and better shooting we see Philadelphia winning this game and covering the spread. Avalanche vs Golden Knights
The NHL day on Thursday is getting off to an early start in Las Vegas, but that is fine because it gives the limited Friday afternoon sports action time to get the fans that are getting off work early and wanting to watch a sporting event. In the Avalanche vs the Golden Knigths, though, the matchup is going to be more of a defensive minded game than what fans might expect. The Avalanche are giving up only 2.55 goals a game and the Golden Knights are giving up only 2.70 goals per game. Both of these offenses are averaging over 3.70 goals a game, but in this game here I actually like the under to hit. The defenses are strong for both of these teams and that will make it very difficult for the offenses to crack either one of the teams. In their last 5 games the home team here has only went over the 6 goal mark in a game 2 times. The Avalanche, though, have seen that mark get blown to bits with only 1 game under the 6.5 mark. When both of these teams are facing off against each other though, I really think the defenses are what will win out this game as the Golden Knights keep the Colorado offense in check and keep the goal total on the under 6.5 mark. Memphis vs Rice
Memphis is coming into the game here as a ranked team and are heavily favored at a -13.5. However, I do not see how the Tigers are that heavily favored when they just barely beat USF by a 3 point margin and lost to UAB by 7 points. Granted, against Tulsa the Tigers looked like an amazing team, but the Tigers have been very streaky when it comes to playing and that definitely makes them a wild card type of teams for a spread this large. Rice for their part has been streaky as well at times, but are coming off of a 3 point victory in double over time over Connecticut and that will give this young Rice team a boost in confidence. In their last 5 games, though, aside for the recent blowout loss to UTSA the Owls have lost by only 6 points and 8 points. I look for the Owls to be able to continue to play at a top level in this game here against the Tigers and try to draw some national attention to the program in this game against a ranked team. That type of hype and moral boost from their recent win leads me to believe the Owls players will leave it all out of the field like this is a bowl game, but also allows Rice to cover the spread, which I think is just to high for this Memphis team.
