Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Picks and Predictions for Saturday October 24 2026
Edmonton has first place in the West wrapped up. Saskatchewan is still waiting to find out where it’ll play next weekend. And somehow the Roughriders are favored by more than a field goal against a team that’s won 13 games.
That tells you what this game is about. Edmonton has no reason to risk getting its starters hurt. Saskatchewan would like to get another win before the playoffs, particularly after spending much of the second half of the season looking nothing like the team that was winning games during the summer.
The Elks visit Mosaic Stadium in Regina on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Kickoff is at 3:00 PM ET on TSN, RDS2, and CFL+. Saskatchewan is favored by 4.5 points, with the total at 55.5. This one’s outdoors, and late October in Regina isn’t exactly beach weather. Wind and temperature could matter, especially for the passing and kicking games. Edmonton Elks Have Earned A Chance To Rest
Edmonton is 13-4 after beating Winnipeg 35-27 last Friday. The Elks have won the West Division and will host the Western Final on November 7. That’s quite a season. They were good enough to beat Winnipeg by eight even with the Bombers fighting for their playoff lives. Now Edmonton gets a week off after Saturday’s game. The coaching staff has to be thinking about keeping everybody healthy rather than squeezing out one more regular-season victory.

The Elks average 31.3 points and 398.9 yards per game. They’ve been particularly strong running the football, leading the league with 126.3 rushing yards a contest. Their defense has been excellent, too. Edmonton allows 24.8 points and 343.1 yards per game, both the best marks in the CFL. Saskatchewan has a decent passing offense, but the Riders won’t have an easy time moving the ball if Edmonton plays its regular defensive starters. The trouble for bettors is figuring out how many of those starters will be on the field after halftime.
Cody Fajardo has thrown for 4,788 yards and 25 touchdowns. Justin Rankin has rushed for 1,170 yards and nine touchdowns, giving Edmonton a running game that can take over late in games. Austin Mack has 1,254 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, while Malik Carney has 11 sacks on defense. Tyrell Ford has seven interceptions. Those are some impressive numbers, but they’re also the reason Edmonton might want to sit a few people. Losing Fajardo or Rankin in a game that doesn’t matter to the standings would be awfully hard to explain.
Saskatchewan Roughriders Need To Get Their Act Together
Saskatchewan is 9-8 after beating Montreal 16-12 on Saturday. The Riders needed a touchdown in the closing seconds to pull it off. That ended a four-game losing streak, and it also secured a playoff berth. The win was important, but Saskatchewan still has work to do. The Riders can end up playing BC in the Western Semi-Final or crossing over to Toronto for the Eastern Semi-Final. Either way, they’ll be on the road.
Saskatchewan averages 27.5 points and 397.4 yards per game. The Riders have been throwing for 316.8 yards a contest, which gives them a chance to score against just about anybody. But the offense hasn’t been consistent enough, particularly during the losing streak. The defense allows 27.3 points and 373.9 yards per game. Saskatchewan has been better against the run than the pass, giving up only 79.8 rushing yards. That could make things difficult for Edmonton’s ground game if Rankin plays much. The Riders need to stop giving opponents easy possessions and start finishing drives.
Trevor Harris has thrown for 5,370 yards and 32 touchdowns. KeeSean Johnson leads the receivers with 1,328 yards, and Jameer Thurman has 100 tackles on defense. James Vaughters has seven sacks. Those are the players Saskatchewan needs playing well when the playoffs arrive. Harris has enough experience to handle a big game, but he needs better protection and more help from the running game. The Riders are expected to use most of their starters at least early Saturday. That’s a different approach from what Edmonton is likely to do.
Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Picks and Predictions
Saskatchewan Roughriders -4.5 (-110)
I’ll lay the 4.5 with Saskatchewan. Edmonton is the better team over the full season, and I’m not going to argue otherwise. But the Elks have already won the West, while Saskatchewan needs a good performance before heading into the playoffs. The Riders are expected to play their starters, at least to begin the game. Edmonton has every reason to rest Fajardo, Rankin, and other important players. If the Elks play their regular lineup for four quarters, this spread looks generous to Saskatchewan. I don’t expect that to happen. Give me the Riders by a touchdown.
Under 55.5 Points (-110)
I’m going under 55.5. Edmonton has a terrific offense, but I doubt the Elks will be interested in leaving their stars out there for a full game. Saskatchewan’s offense has been uneven, and the Riders scored only 16 against Montreal last week. The weather could also play a part if the wind gets going in Regina. I expect Saskatchewan to try to control the ball and avoid unnecessary mistakes. Edmonton’s backups will want to make plays, of course, so this isn’t a free under. But with the playoff situation hanging over both teams, I think we get something closer to Saskatchewan 28, Edmonton 21.
Final Picks: Saskatchewan Roughriders -4.5 (-110) and Under 55.5 Points (-110)
