Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Toronto Argonauts Picks and Predictions for Saturday October 31 2026
Winnipeg has been here before. Plenty of times. And somebody is going to tell me that playoff experience is enough reason to back the Blue Bombers on Saturday.
I don’t buy that by itself.
Winnipeg finished 9-9 and needed the crossover route to get into the Eastern playoff bracket. Toronto gets the home game, and the Argonauts are laying 3.5 points. That’s not a huge number. But there’s one thing I want answered before putting serious money on this matchup: how healthy is Winnipeg’s quarterback?
The Eastern Semi-Final kicks off Saturday at 1 PM ET from BMO Field in Toronto. The winner moves on to Montreal for the Eastern Final. Toronto is around a 3.5-point favorite, and the total is 57.5. I’ll take the Argonauts, but this isn’t a game where I’d be surprised to see Winnipeg hang around until the fourth quarter. Get ready for all the action with our free CFL picks.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers Have One Big Question
The Blue Bombers finished the regular season 9-9. That’s not the kind of record Winnipeg supporters have grown accustomed to seeing, but it was enough to get another shot at the Grey Cup. And that’s the thing about the playoffs. Nobody cares how you got in once the ball is kicked off. You just have to win three games.
Winnipeg’s biggest problem is the uncertainty surrounding Zach Collaros. He’s dealing with a rib injury suffered against BC in the regular-season finale. A quarterback with sore ribs isn’t exactly what you want against a defense that knows it can bring pressure. Even if he plays, can he stand in the pocket and take a hit? Can he drive the ball downfield without protecting himself? Those are legitimate questions, and Toronto knows it.
I expect Winnipeg to try to establish the run and avoid asking its quarterback to throw 40 times. That’s the sensible approach. Keep the chains moving, control possession and make Toronto work for every opportunity. The Blue Bombers have enough postseason experience to understand that. But if they fall behind by two touchdowns, the whole plan changes. Then they’re asking an injured quarterback to rescue them on the road. I don’t love that situation.
Toronto Argonauts Have the Better Setup
Toronto gets the home field, and that’s worth something in a playoff game. The Argonauts don’t have to travel, they know the stadium, and they get a Winnipeg team with uncertainty at the most important position on the field.
The spread tells you this isn’t some enormous mismatch. Toronto is favored by only 3.5, and I think that’s reasonable. The Argonauts have to avoid handing Winnipeg short fields through turnovers. Give a veteran playoff team enough extra possessions and it will find a way to make things uncomfortable. Toronto doesn’t need to do anything spectacular. Protect the football, finish drives and make Winnipeg’s offense earn its yards.
There’s also a psychological difference between playing with a healthy quarterback and wondering how long the other team’s starter can hold up. Toronto can build its defensive plan around attacking the pocket. Winnipeg has to spend part of its preparation deciding how to protect Collaros or adjust if he can’t go. That’s an advantage I don’t want to ignore.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Toronto Argonauts Picks and Predictions
Toronto Argonauts -3.5 (-120)
I’m taking Toronto minus 3.5. Winnipeg’s playoff history deserves respect, but it doesn’t block anybody or throw a touchdown pass. Collaros’ rib injury is a real concern, and I don’t like the Blue Bombers having to deal with that on the road. Toronto has a chance to dictate the game defensively, and the Argonauts don’t need a blowout to cover. The danger is Winnipeg leaning on its running game, shortening possessions and keeping this within a field goal. I can see that happening. But I’m leaning Toronto by about a touchdown.
Under 57.5 Points (-115)
Give me Under 57.5. The number leaves room for a fairly entertaining game, but I don’t expect Winnipeg to come out throwing the ball all over the field with its quarterback situation uncertain. The Blue Bombers have every reason to slow things down and protect possession. Toronto doesn’t need to turn this into a track meet either. The risk is special teams or turnovers creating short scoring drives. That’s always possible in the CFL. Still, I see something closer to Toronto 29-23 than a game where both teams reach the mid-30s.
