During Monday’s home loss, Tampa Bay was held scoreless for the first seven innings. The Rays scored both runs in the eighth inning on run scoring singles from Liam Hicks and Chandler Simpson. SP Ian Seymour (9-6) retired ten batters by strikes in six plus innings and was the hard-luck loser.
Thirty year old right-hander Freddy Peralta (6-11 5.11 ERA) will take the ball against his former team. The Mets acquired Peralta from Milwaukee in the offseason, but shipped him to Tampa Bay after 22 disappointing starts. Last time out, Peralta fired six shutout frames and fanned four batters during a 3-0 road victory against Detroit.
