SP Braxton Ashcraft (14-5) allowed two runs in five innings to earn the win for the Pirates, who improved to 67-71 on the year.
The Pirates will counter with reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Paul Skenes (9-11 3.79 ERA) in the series opener. Through 145 innings of work, Skenes ranks ninth in the majors with 175 strikeouts and owns a sparkling 1.12 WHIP.
