Cal State Fullerton heads to Honolulu for a Big West matchup against a red-hot Hawai‘i team inside the Stan Sheriff Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:59 PM ET on ESPN+. Fullerton enters at 3–6 (0–1 Big West), while Hawai‘i sits at 7–2 (1–0 Big West) and riding a wave of early-season momentum. Cal State Fullerton Titans Preview

Fullerton comes into this matchup with one of the most explosive—but unpredictable—offenses in the Big West. They average 88.4 points per game, an impressive number, but they also allow 88.3 PPG, which has repeatedly put them in shootout territory.

Their biggest bright spot is J. Ward (15.3 PPG), a dynamic scorer who can create off the dribble and carry the offense for long stretches. The Titans rebound the ball well (46 per game) and distribute effectively (16.3 assists per game), so the raw tools are there.

Hawai‘i returns home after a strong road win against UC Davis and looks like a balanced, confident team. Their success starts with defense—they allow only 65.7 points per game, the best mark in the conference early on.

Their offense is equally steady, averaging 81.3 PPG, and they dominate the glass with 48 rebounds per game. That combination of physicality, discipline, and tempo control can frustrate even the highest-scoring teams.

Johnson (14.6 PPG) continues to be their most reliable offensive weapon, shooting an excellent 55.1% from the field and nearly automatic from the free-throw line (94.1%).

The Rainbow Warriors have won three straight, and at home they remain one of the toughest outs in the Big West. Their ability to slow down games and limit second-chance opportunities gives them a clear advantage here.

I’m backing Hawai‘i in this matchup. Fullerton has shown they can put up points, but their defensive inconsistencies are exactly the type of weakness Hawai‘i exploits—especially in Honolulu, where the Warriors traditionally control pace and energy.

Hawai‘i’s rebounding edge, physical interior defense, and ability to limit turnovers should allow them to dictate this game from start to finish. Fullerton will have stretches where their offense catches fire, but sustaining that against Hawai‘i’s half-court discipline is a different challenge.
