Lindenwood Lions Preview

Lindenwood’s 2024–25 season marked progress under coach Kyle Gerdeman, with a 10–10 conference record and competitive late-season play. Senior guard Anias Futrell (12.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and sophomore Jadis Jones (12.5 ppg, 55% FG) return to lead the offense. The Lions also bring back about 45% of their scoring from last year, while transfer additions like Robert Lewis (Arkansas Pine-Bluff) and Jordan Wildy (6'9" forward) add needed size.

Defensively, Lindenwood struggled on the glass last season with a -1.0 rebound margin and limited perimeter shooting (.283 from three). Improving those two areas will be critical if the Lions want to stay competitive in Lubbock. Early signs from practice show improvement from last season, but road tests against high-major competition have historically been difficult.

Texas Tech Red Raiders Preview

Grant McCasland’s group brings back one of the Big 12’s top frontcourts, led by JT Toppin (18.2 ppg, 9.4 rpg) and Christian Anderson (10.6 ppg). The Red Raiders averaged 80.9 points per game last season while ranking in the top 30 nationally in both assists (16.4) and three-pointers made (10.0). Despite losing veterans Darrion Williams and Chance McMillian, Tech reloaded through the transfer portal with forwards Josiah Moseley (Villanova) and LeJuan Watts (Washington State).

Texas Tech’s up-tempo attack and defensive length at the rim make it a tough opening draw for a rebuilding Lions team. The Red Raiders also have a strong home-court advantage, having gone 15–2 in Lubbock last year.

Lindenwood Lions at Texas Tech Red Raiders Prediction

Lindenwood should compete early behind its experienced guards, but Texas Tech’s talent and depth will take over by halftime. The Red Raiders’ balance on both ends will produce a comfortable win to start the season. Expect Texas Tech to win by at least 30 points and likely more. Final Score Prediction: Texas Tech Red Raiders win and cover ATS, 90–57.
