Long Island Sharks Preview
Long Island started its season with an 89–67 defeat against Notre Dame. Guard Jamal Fuller led the Sharks with 12 points and five rebounds, while forward Mason Porter-Brown matched him with 12 points and four boards. Greg Gordon had an all-around game with 11 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. The Sharks shot 38.2% from the floor and 33.3% from three while committing 15 turnovers.
The Sharks battled on the boards, finishing with 31 rebounds, but defensive mistakes allowed Notre Dame to build a big lead early. Forward Shadrak Lasu scored eight points but must take more shots after going just 2-for-2, and Jomo Goings added eight points and seven rebounds. The Sharks must commit fewer turnovers and limit fast-break chances for IU Indianapolis. A steadier offense built around Gordon’s playmaking will help keep the Sharks close on the road.
IU Indianapolis Jaguars Preview
IU Indianapolis showed a strong offense despite its 118–102 loss to Ohio State. However, the defense was another story after conceding 118 points. Forward Kameron Tinsley led the Jaguars with 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting and hit three threes. Guard Kyler D’Augustino added 21 points, and Jaxon Edwards scored 13. The Jaguars shot 50% overall and 31.6% from three but gave up 118 points and were outrebounded 38–25.
The Jaguars moved the ball well on offense, recording 20 assists, with forward Finley Woodward leading the way with eight. Turnovers were limited to 13, but the Jaguars could not get stops, allowing Ohio State to shoot over 60%. Improving on-ball defense and contesting perimeter shots are priorities heading into this matchup. If IU Indianapolis can carry over its success on offense from its season opener, while playing much tighter defense, it should control the pace at home.
