Northern Illinois sits at 3–5 overall and has lost two straight, including a 99–64 home defeat to LIN that exposed defensive issues and inconsistency in shot creation. Their road record (1–4) is also a concern, especially heading into a tough environment like Carver Arena.

I’m backing Bradley in this matchup without hesitation. NIU has been unreliable on the road and comes in off one of their worst defensive performances of the season. I don’t expect them to suddenly find answers in a building where Bradley has played its best basketball.

Bradley’s defensive intensity is a major separator here. Their ability to generate steals and force NIU into low-percentage looks should create separation early. I also like the matchup for J. Johnson, who has a clear advantage against a Huskies defense that has struggled to contain primary scorers all year.

Unless NIU shoots well above expectation from deep — something they haven’t shown — I don’t see them keeping pace for 40 minutes.
