The Providence Friars are 1-0 to start their season. Providence beat Holy Cross 89-79 in their season opener. Stefan Vaaks led the way with 19 points. While Jaylin Sellers and Corey Floyd both added 12 points. Providence made 7 three pointers in the win and grabbed 40 rebounds. The Virginia Tech Hokies are also 1-0 to start their season. Virginia Tech beat Charleston Southern in their season opener 98-67. Tobi Lawal led the Hokies with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Amani Hansberry added 19 points and grabbed 13 boards. Virginia Tech made 9 three pointers in the win. The Hokies had 6 steals and 49 rebounds. Virginia Tech went 13-19 last season with a 8-12 conference record. Virginia Tech also lost in their first round of the conference tournament where their season ended.
