Rider Broncs Preview
Rider opened its season with an 87–53 loss at Virginia, struggling to generate consistent offense against one of the country’s top defenses. Flash Burton led the Broncs with 17 points, and Zion Cruz added seven, but the team shot just 32.7% from the field and 25% from three. Rider made 18 of 29 free throws but committed 14 turnovers and finished with only seven assists.
The Broncs were outscored 45–21 in the second half after trailing by 10 at the break, showing how difficult it can be to match up against a much more talented team’s front line. Cole McCabe and Jamir McNeil were active on the boards, but the offense lacked spacing and ball movement. Against Rutgers, Rider will need steadier guard play and better shot selection to stay within reach.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights Preview
Rutgers begins its season after a 15–17 record last year and the loss of several key players, including guards Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey. The Scarlet Knights return Dylan Grant, Jamichael Davis, and Emmanuel Ogbole while adding forwards Darren Buchanan Jr. from George Washington and Baye Fall from Kansas State.
