Utah State has started 7–0 and looks every bit like an efficient, well-balanced offensive machine. Their latest win was an 84–81 OT battle against Montana State, a game where the Aggies showed they could win in a tight, late-game situation as well as in blowouts.

On the season, Utah State scores 88.9 points per game while allowing only 67.3. That +21.6 scoring margin is elite. They dominate the glass with 53 rebounds per game, share the ball with 20 assists, and their defense is very disruptive, averaging 11.9 steals and 3.4 blocks.

South Florida Preview

South Florida is 4–4, but the Bulls have been a wild ride. They’re coming off an 83–68 loss to Colorado State, but that followed a thrilling 97–91 OT win over Western Kentucky. USF games tend to turn into track meets.

USF is scoring 91.4 points per game while surrendering 82.5. They rebound well at 40.9 boards per game, dish 16.9 assists, and add 10.4 steals. The Bulls love to push the pace and attack downhill, but that pace also exposes their defense, especially against disciplined offenses.

Omojafo is the focal point, averaging 15.3 points per game on 49.3% shooting and 83.0% from the line. USF can absolutely score with anyone, but their transition defense and half-court discipline haven’t kept up with their offensive ambition.

I’m backing Utah State in this matchup. South Florida’s pace will create a fun, high-possession game, but that actually plays right into Utah State’s strengths. The Aggies have the deeper roster, the cleaner shot profile, and a major rebounding edge that should translate to extra possessions and better looks inside.

USF can make runs and keep this close for stretches with their scoring, but their defensive numbers are a concern against an offense as efficient as Utah State’s.
