Abilene Christian Preview
Abilene Christian bounced back from a tough 35-7 loss at Tulsa by defeating SFA 28-20 last week. Quarterback Stone Earle has thrown for 379 yards on 36 completions but has yet to record a touchdown pass while tossing one interception. Running back Jordon Vaughn has been the offensive spark, rushing for 137 yards and two scores on 38 carries. On the perimeter, wideout Javon Gipson leads the receiving corps with 155 yards on 10 catches, showing the ability to stretch the field.
The Wildcats will need the defense to step up in a major way to stay competitive against TCU’s fast-paced attack. Linebacker Rashon Myles Jr. has anchored the group with 23 total tackles through two games, while defensive lineman Kortlin Rausaw has added 1.5 sacks. Even with these individual efforts, containing TCU’s depth and speed on offense presents a steep challenge, especially on the road in a hostile environment.
TCU Preview
TCU opened its season with authority, rolling over UNC 48-14. Quarterback Josh Hoover was efficient, completing 27 of 36 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Running back Kevorian Barnes contributed balance to the offense, rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown on just 11 carries. Receiver Jordan Dwyer also stood out, hauling in nine receptions for 136 yards and a score. The Frogs showed little rust after a bowl win over UL last December.
Defensively, TCU controlled the line of scrimmage and forced UNC into mistakes. Edge rusher Zach Chapman picked up a sack, and the secondary tightened up in key moments. With confidence building and depth across both units, TCU has the tools to overwhelm Abilene Christian. The home-field advantage in Fort Worth only adds to the gap between these programs.
Abilene Christian vs TCU Prediction
TCU’s offense is too explosive and efficient for the Wildcats to handle over four quarters. Abilene Christian may find some early success through Vaughn on the ground, but the Horned Frogs should pull away by halftime.
Pick: TCU 45, Abilene Christian 10
