Drones has 277 rushing yards and five touchdowns, giving the Hokies a legitimate dual-threat under center.

The defense has disrupted opposing offenses with 14 sacks. Linebacker Kaleb Spencer leads with 33 tackles, while linemen Elhadj Fall and James Jennette have combined for four sacks. Kicker John Love is 12-for-14 on field goals with a long of 56 yards. Virginia Tech must convert drives inside the 20 and slow California’s passing.
